Young Voters Respond to President Biden Vetoing Student Debt Bill

In response to President Biden vetoing a bill that would potentially cancel the President’s debt forgiveness plan, NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:

“We applaud President Biden for vetoing this egregious bill that would take away life-changing relief from over 40 million Americans and attack hardworking families drowning in debt. The President is standing up for us and fighting back against Republicans who would rather side with greedy corporations and billionaires than everyday people.

“Student debt relief is legal, just, and necessary. By introducing and moving this bill forward, Republicans are showing how out of touch they are with the needs of tens of millions of Americans. Rather than build up their communities and local economies, they prefer to stand in the way of progress. We won’t stop advocating for student debt relief and this is not where our fight ends. Again and again what we’re seeing today is Republicans against young people — and they will pay a price come November 2024.”
